In 2007, Big Sean landed the opportunity of a lifetime when he was signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music. Impressed by his abilities, the Chicago rapper soon arranged for Def Jam to distribute his music in 2008. For three years, Big Sean has been recording on the mixtape level.
Nearly two years ago, G.O.O.D. Music announced Big Sean had started working on his debut album. Throughout most of 2009, he recorded material for the album. But, with the Kanye West issues, it was hard to land a secure release date. However, following the success of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, more news came.
Last month, several reports said Big Sean's debut album, Finally Famous, would be released late this month. When news of the release date circulated, Big Sean released a statement. Big Sean denied his album being released in such short notice. However, he did release his Chris Brown-assisted single, "My Last," which has become a minor hit.
With things finally coming together, Big Sean has an official release date for Finally Famous. The album will feature contribution from Kanye West, Pharrell, and Mike Posner. Also, before the official release of the album will come a mixtape release. The official release date of Finally Famous will come on May 3, 2011 through G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam.
