Many would argue Shyne's time came and went. He was hand-picked by Puff Daddy to resurrect Bad Boy Records after Mase left the label on the path to righteousness. But, right when Shyne's career seemed poised for a takeoff, an altercation at a New York nightclub found him headed to prison.
In October 2009, Shyne was released from prison and he immediately began working on his third album. But, when he began recording the album, he was sidetracked when he was deported. Back in Belize, the rapper began getting in touch with his religious side. He has still worked with many of hip hop's bigger names.
One big name in hip hop that sticks out to Shyne is Drake. He is highly impressed with his abilities. Given the fact that he can both sing and rap, Shyne feels he is bigger than hip hop. Shyne also respects the fact that Drake is himself each time he picks up the mic. To Shyne, it takes a special kind of man to acknowledge that he is not from the streets, winning fans over because he makes good music.
