Three years ago, 50 Cent complained that Interscope Records did not properly promote Curtis. At the time, the label was focusing their energy on Soulja Boy, who debuted a platinum album. However, as the years have gone by, the focus has shifted again.
In 2007 and 2008, Soulja Boy delivered two high-selling albums and numerous chart-topping singles. But, in the time since then, he has been away from the game. Soulja Boy has gotten fair radio play, but the response has not been the same to his songs.
As a result, Soulja Boy's songs are not going far on the charts, which leads to low sales. People within Soulja Boy's camp are blaming this mess on Interscope Records. Like 50 Cent, Soulja Boy is saying he has done all of the promotion for this new album.
Soulja Boy feels Interscope Records could have done more to promote his album. When the album was released, Boi-1da said the album was nowhere to be found. He feels Interscope Records did not send many copies out the album out to stores across the country if his store barely had the album in stock. Soulja Boy said his album was all of the way at the back of the rack and the average fan will not look that hard.
