Yesterday, 50 Cent boasted of his power, saying he had shut down WorldStarHipHop.com. The site has grown immensely popular over the past two years, becoming the top hip hop site. 50 Cent has a hip hop site, ThisIs50.com, competing directly with it.
In 2009, as WorldStarHipHop.com was becoming popular, 50 Cent said he would bring them down. It appeared as if he had made good on that promise when the site randomly shut down. 50 Cent said he had gotten them for copyright infringement.
Stories reported said the Department of Homeland Security even got into the situation. The site was reportedly seized by the government. Despite claims by 50 Cent, the site was up and running with no problem today. The owner of the site, Q, recently spoke about on the situation.
During an interview with Hot97, Q said the site shutting down had nothing do with 50 Cent. He said the server on the site shut down, which caused the site to shut down. Without boasting, Q said he has to constantly add more servers because the site is gaining more popularity by the day. He went on to deny the claims by 50 Cent saying this was not the first time the site was shut down. In 2007, WSHH.com was shut down after being hacked and it was also hacked in 2010.
After refuting 50 Cent's claims, Q thanked him for the free promotion. He admitted the two have been feuding for a few years and it has nothing to do with the rival websites.
