During the late 1990s, Ruff Ryders was one of the hottest crews in the rap game, making hit records upon hit records. DMX was considered the toughest guy in rap and Eve was the first lady of the game. Drag-On was popular as one of the tough guys in the game, mainly because of his part with the Ruff Ryders.

Things were great for Drag-On until the Ruff Ryders movement lost traction. Soon, DMX and Eve were the only Ruff Ryders receiving media attention. By 2002, they were barely receiving spins on the radio with the influx of new talent from other areas. Drag-On has been forgotten for the most part.

In 2009, Drag-On revealed he had started his own record label named after his album, Hood Environment. He said he was trying to gain his release from Ruff Ryders then. While he holds no ill will towards Swizz Beatz, Drag-On has been trying to build an image of his own, outside of the label. However, he said he would go to Ruff Ryders for his distribution deal. Now, he is speaking a different tone.

Recently, Drag-On revealed his Hood Environment label was his own movement, entirely. The rapper said he is doing everything on his own. Drag-On said they are putting out their own videos and promoting them online. Hood Environment has its own roster of artists that Drag-On is free to focus on because he has officially been dropped from Ruff Ryders. He wishes DMX and Eve the best of luck on their comeback attempts, but he is taking matters into his own hands for his career.
