Following the commercial and critical success of L.A.X., Game was ready to move into a new phase. Ever since being banished from G-Unit, Game was hoping to get back in Dr. Dre's good graces. His post-G-Unit albums were filled with pleas for Dre to hear him out.

But, The R.E.D. Album was going to be different, as Game focused more on his own career. Game was going to officially step up as the King of L.A. with this album. Recording began early in 2009. The album's official release was supposed to be right before the end of 2009.

Game wrapped the album up early and was thinking of releasing it ahead of time. But, a chance meeting with Snoop Dogg led to him changing directions in his entire career. While recording with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg felt one of the beats would be perfect for Game and he invited Game to record. Right then, Game and Dr. Dre settled their beef and Game returned to Aftermath Entertainment.

For over a year, Game has been back home and Dr. Dre has been putting the finishing touches on Detox, his final album. But, Game has been waiting for over two years to put his album out. Dr. Dre told Game to delay the album because he wanted to rework it. Dr. Dre's busy schedule keeps him from doing most of what he plans to and Game says it is the reason his album did not come out sooner. Game promised when his album did release, it will change the landscape of hip hop.
