The West Coast has fallen off from its heyday during the mid-to-late 1990s. But, Snoop Dogg has remained hot, even in the drought. Snoop Dogg has often talked about using his position to help out the new West Coast artists trying to break into the game.

In 2009, Snoop Dogg left Geffen Records for a new deal with Priority Records. Through this deal, Snoop landed full distribution for his Doggystyle label. Snoop Dogg also landed an executive role with the label. It is his job to scout new talent and sign them.

For nearly two years, Snoop Dogg has been working hard at rebuilding the label. With new artists from the West rising every day, Snoop Dogg has been steadily building. He said he is teaching the new artists the ends and outs of the game on different levels. Snoop Dogg has also lent his name to these new artists, recording on their tracks and promoting for them.
