On the Rise: Mikkey Halsted

Later this year, Mikkey Halsted will make his debut to the music scene. The Chicago native has been with Kanye West for the past nine years. He has been with the rapper before he was even a rapper. His demo was given to Kanye West by his sister and West, in turn gave it to Cash Money Records. In 2002, Halsted came close to signing to Cash Money, but the deal fell through.

When Kanye West created GOOD Music, among the first artists signed to the label was Mikkey Halsted. He has been in the background waiting for his chance for the past seven years. He has watched Kanye West take over as the focal point of the label, while Common has become a legend and Kid Cudi become the future of hip hop. This year, however, will be when Mikkey Halsted finally receives the attention that he has wanted for so long. He plans to release his debut single sometime before summer.

Before the end of this year, Mikkey Halsted will release his debut album on GOOD Music and Def Jam.
