Fresh off the success of his debut album, Drake is already thinking about the rest of his career. Already, people have compared him to the all-time greats. Not only does Drake want to go down in history, he also wants long-term commercial success.
With fame comes fans, but with fans also comes the media ready to bring you down. No star has experienced a run like the one Ja Rule had. But, on the other hand, no star has experienced a backlash like the one Ja Rule had. Drake wants to be the rapper to harness the fame and keep it.
There are certain artists who fall off, but they will always be popular as long as they release music. These artists are Jay-Z, Eminem, and Lil Wayne. Jay-Z has captivated fans from the start and he put together The Blueprint right as fans were ready to backlash. Eminem came into the game as a major star and took five years off during his peak to avoid oversaturating the music industry, now on his comeback, Slim Shady is back on top. Wayne, on the other hand, was a backburner on Cash Money and used solid mixtapes to make him into a star.
Because of the things those three rappers did to solidify themselves, no matter what they do, they will always be in good graces with the fans. Drake knows the fans of those three rappers are very loyal and he hopes his fans will be the same way towards him. This is likely to be the case as Drake is a part of Lil Wayne's camp and he has worked with both Eminem and Jay-Z, who was featured on his Thank Me Later album.
