Ever since 1996, Black Rob has been affiliated with Bad Boy Records. However, he was not signed to the label until late 1997. From there, Black Rob was placed into the Bad Boy rotation. He made appearances on all of the remixes and R&B singles.
Then, in 2000, Black Rob finally released his debut album, Life Story, which was headlined by his hit, "Like Woah." For the remix, he brought in Rah Digga, Da Brat, Lil' Cease, G. Dep, and Beanie Sigel.
The album was fairly popular, however, it did not sell as well as Sean Combs wanted it to. Because of this, it would be five years before Black Rob released another album. Following the release of his debut album, Rob could not recaptivate the fans and his next album was released with almost no attention. One year after the release of his album, Black Rob was sentenced to seven years in prison. During his time behind bars, Rob was dropped from Bad Boy Records.
Last month, Black Rob was released early from prison and he is getting back to work on his music. Now, he is looking for a label to release his next album. Upon his release from prison, Black Rob had some choice words for Diddy, but he recently cleared up his statement. His relationship with Diddy is fine and Black Rob has gone as far to state that Diddy wants him back on the Bad Boy label. Black Rob said he has been talking to Combs for some time, now.
Black Rob said they should meet sometime before the end of the week to see if they can work out some sort of deal.
