Before last year, it appeared that the only rapper that could release an album without any problems was Plies. Having debuted during the summer of 2007, Plies was written off as a one hit wonder. But, right at the beginning of 2008, he released the lead single from his sophomore album. The summer of 2008 became known as “Bust It Baby, Pt. II.”
Towards the end of 2008, Plies announced that he would release another album before the end of the year. Right in December, he released his album, Da REAList. The album spawned hits late in 2008 and he kicked off 2009 with his Ashanti collaboration, “Want It/Need It.” When he recorded Da REAList, Plies said he had enough relevant material to record another album.
Initially, Plies was supposed to release his fourth studio album, Goon Affiliated, in May of last year. However, there was trouble deciding what song to release as the first single. Towards the end of the summer of 2009, “Becky” was chosen as the first single. The album was then set for an October 2009 release. However, the date came and went with no album.
Since the album had been recorded almost one year prior to the set release, Atlantic Records, decided to make Plies go back and re-record the album. Now, it is unclear if “Becky” will be included on this album. The album will be coming sometime this summer. Plies has since released “Medicine” featuring Keri Hilson and “She Got It Made” as singles off of the album.
