Coming as no surprise to anyone, Drake is currently dominating the radio waves. However, this time it is not off of his So Far Gone mixtape. Instead, his single, “Over,” is the first single off of his debut album, Thank Me Later. The song has become quite popular, as Drake’s success continues. However, it was not always popular with everyone.
As the release date of his album nears, Drake has received multiple comparisons to Jay-Z. The two collaborated last year on “Off That” from The Blueprint 3. In the time since their collaboration, Jay-Z has served as a mentor to Drake. Recently, Drake has played some of his new music to Jay-Z. The first song that was played for him was “Over.”
When he first heard the song, Jay-Z honestly told Drake that he hated the song. In fact, Jay also advised that he not put the song out. Drake came close to actually taking Jay-Z’s advice. But, for some reason, he decided to put the song out. Three months later, it appears as if Drake made the right decision. Now, even Jay-Z is a fan.
Recently, Jay-Z admitted that he now likes the song. He often listens to it when he is getting ready in the mornings. Drake plans to release Thank Me Later on June 15, 2010.
