40 Glocc comes under fire for Harsh Lyrics

Ever since West Coast hip hop emerged late in the 1980s, it has been clear most West Coast rappers are gang affiliated. One of the first rappers actually in a gang was Eazy-E, a Crip. However, he never publicly mentioned his gang affiliation. Over time, rappers have become bold and they often throw up their sets.

As a result, gang activity has drastically increased within the black community. For the past few years, leaders such as Al Sharpton have led a fight against the lyrics in rap which promote violence. Compton rapper, Game, often shouts his affiliation with the Bloods gang and fellow Compton rapper 40 Glocc often speaks of his Crip affiliation.

In his music, however, 40 Glocc goes into more detail about actual gang activity than any other gangsta rapper in history. Because of this, police in San Bernadino County, California are trying to put an end to gang activity in the county. They want 40 Glocc to stop rapping about being a Crip and they want him away from Arbor Terrace Apartments.

40 Glocc recently responded to the injunction with a single, "Fuck Tha Police." During the 1980s, NWA put out a similar single, but they never actually delved into their gang activities the way 40 Glocc has. In this song, the rapper actually calls out certain police officers. The officers called out are Cpl. Shawn McFarland and Colton police Sgt. Eric Miller, who investigated the activity of his set. In the video for the song, 40 waves weapons in front of the camera.

"Fuck Tha Police" will be the first single off of 40 Glocc's new album, N.W.A. (New World Agenda). The album does not have a set release date, but should come out sometime before the end of the year. It is unclear which label will release the album as he is said to be an unofficial artist of G-Unit Records.
