After the success of his last album, Loso's Way, Fabolous promised to release an album every year. For years, he has been picked as the future of hip hop. But, his time has passed because of his inconsistency. When he prepared his last album, Fab did something unlike anything that he had ever done before. Instead of simply coming with the album, Fab released a mixtape to promote himself and then he followed up with the album. The plan worked.
Now that he feels that the game passed him by, Fabolous decided to go ahead and work on his next mixtape. Because his next album is going to be a sequel, he decided that his mixtape should be a sequel. On Christmas Day, Fabolous had planned to release There Is No Competition 2: The Funeral Service. Before the planned release of the mixtape, Fab boasted about how easy it is to put out a mixtape as opposed to an album.
When Christmas Day arrived, Fabolous announced that the mixtape had been pushed back because the host, DJ Drama, took some time off to be with his family. Fabolous rescheduled his mixtape for release on New Year's Day. But, when New Year's came and went, Fab delayed the mixtape again. He later said that the mixtape would be released during the first week of February 2010. But, again, those planned dates came and went. The reason that the mixtape was pushed back was because Jadakiss had decided to jump on the mixtape after hearing a few tracks. Since he had delayed the mixtape already, he invited Nicki Minaj to also collaborate with him on the mixtape.
For years, Fabolous has also had a great relationship with Cam'ron. While he and Cam have been great friends, they have never had the opportunity to collaborate with each other. Fabolous promised a few weeks ago that the mixtape would be released in March, but since he was still working on it, Cam'ron was also invited to work with him on the mixtape. Yesterday, Fabolous finally released his new mixtape. He joked about the time he put into the mixtape, saying that with as much work he put into the mixtape that it should count as an album. But, on a serious note, the mixtape will count as just a mixtape and the promotion for his upcoming album, Loso's Way 2.
There is not a set release date for Fabolous' new album.
